Abused children

In the Name of tradition, practices and even religion, there are crimes in society that do not get wide attention. They are more heinous and disturbing than robbery or muggings. One such act is transforming normal, healthy children into what are generally known as choohays or rats. For this purpose, they may use any kind of poison, cocaine or insecticide to control their lives through constant pain, depression and with no hope to fight back against any attempts made by their seniors to have them return home.

This is an ancient practice, originally designed to memorialize a child’s birth at the shrine of a revered saint. It has been going on in Gujrat for centuries, and although some progress has been made against it, it is still prevalent in many parts of India.

This tradition has been traced back to the late 18th century where parents would pray for their child and donate it as a token. The child would be morphed into a doe, who is then seen begging for money on the streets across Pakistan. Whatever money they collect goes back to the shrine administration

If you’re in Pakistan and have a child, do what you can to avoid getting involved with child abuse. You may also see an article about the dangers of child abuse by a local news source or a human rights organization.

According to “The Elements that Determine the Measure of Reparation for Body Cavity Injuries,” parents who mutilate children are arrested and charged with a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment. A subsequent investigation found that more than 60 children had been mutilated in the area, while their living conditions were very poor and their education levels were low.
