DEWA Informs World Hydrogen MENA Delegation About Its Outstanding Projects
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recently welcomed a high-level delegation from World Hydrogen MENA for a tour of its Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is the world's largest single-site solar park operated by an independent power producer (IPP). With a planned production capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030, the solar park is a significant milestone in DEWA's commitment to clean and sustainable energy.
The delegation, consisting of esteemed executives from the global hydrogen industry, also had the opportunity to visit DEWA's Research and Development (R&D) Center and Innovation Center. These centers are dedicated to developing practical solutions to combat climate change by reducing carbon emissions through innovative technologies and initiatives.
During the visit, the delegation received a detailed explanation of DEWA's pioneering "green hydrogen" project, implemented in collaboration with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy. This project is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, producing hydrogen using solar energy. The process involves storing hydrogen and converting it into electrical energy for various applications in air, land, marine, and other industries.
The visit of the World Hydrogen MENA delegation to DEWA's solar park and research centers serves as a testament to DEWA's leadership and innovation in the field of renewable energy and hydrogen technologies. It provides an opportunity for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and exchange of ideas to further advance the adoption of clean energy solutions globally.
DEWA remains committed to its mission of delivering sustainable electricity and water services to the people of Dubai and contributing to a more sustainable future for generations to come. Through its remarkable projects and initiatives, DEWA continues to inspire and lead the way towards a greener and more sustainable tomorrow.
