DEWA received two awards at the Hydrogen Future Awards 2023
DEWA's green hydrogen project at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park has been recognized with the Hydrogen Project of the Year 2023 award at the Hydrogen Future Awards organized during the Connecting Green Hydrogen MENA (CGHM2023) conference in Dubai. DEWA, under the leadership of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO and CEO of DEWA, has been working towards strengthening Dubai's position as a global model for sustainable development and clean energy use.
The green hydrogen project is a significant milestone as it is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to produce green hydrogen using solar energy. The project aligns with DEWA's vision to become a world-leading sustainable innovation corporation and supports Dubai's commitment to sustainable development and the fight against climate change. The green hydrogen produced at the project can be used for various applications, including energy production, transportation, and industrial use.
DEWA's efforts towards green hydrogen are in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Clean Zero Carbon Strategy 2050, which aim to achieve 100% of Dubai's total clean energy generation capacity by 2050. The project also supports the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the UAE Hydrogen Vehicle System, which aim to develop a hydrogen economy in the UAE and promote the use of green transport.
In addition to winning the Hydrogen Project of the Year 2023 award, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer also received the Global Energy Transition Leader 2023 award, recognizing his significant contributions to the global growth of the clean energy industry.
DEWA's green hydrogen project at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park demonstrates its commitment to sustainable development, renewable energy, and the transition to a greener and more sustainable future.
