UAE Economy Minister emphasises need to create investment opportunities

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, recently participated in the 13th edition of the City Week 2023 Forum held in London from 24-26 April. The forum explored various topics such as climate change, green financing and sustainability, institutional adoption, regulation of digital assets, and digitisation and innovation in capital markets.

At the Climate Change, Green Financing, and Sustainability Summit, Bin Touq highlighted the importance of investing in new economy sectors like renewable energy, the space industry, circular economy, and advanced technology to ensure sustainable global economic growth. He emphasized that these sectors have the potential to contribute significantly to building a more prosperous future for humanity.

The UAE has been making significant efforts in the field of renewable energy for the past 15 years. It has invested over USD 40 billion in clean energy projects and plans to invest an additional USD 160 billion over the next three decades. These efforts will help solidify the country's position as an attractive destination for investments in new economy sectors, in line with its goal to attract AED 550 billion in foreign direct investment to these sectors by 2030.

In addition to his remarks on sustainable growth, Bin Touq also discussed other crucial topics at the City Week Forum. He shared his insights on institutional adoption, regulation of digital assets, and innovation in capital markets. The forum was an excellent opportunity for him to engage with other experts in these fields and learn from their experiences.

Bin Touq's participation in the City Week Forum is a testament to the UAE's commitment to sustainable economic growth and its desire to collaborate with other countries to tackle pressing global issues. His insights on investing in new economy sectors and the UAE's efforts in the field of renewable energy will undoubtedly inspire other countries to follow suit and make significant strides towards a more sustainable future.
