UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment launches marine plastic waste monitoring programme

The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has recently launched an innovative programme to monitor plastic waste in the country’s marine and coastal environment. This initiative is part of the Year of Sustainability, and it aims to preserve marine resources, seawater quality, and beach cleanliness.

The programme will conduct a series of scientific studies that use a wide range of methods to measure the quantities and sizes of plastic waste in the country’s seawater and beaches. The results of these studies will help identify the types of plastic pollution in the country’s waters and enable the implementation of necessary measures to ensure the safety and health of both humans and marine life.

One of the primary objectives of the marine plastic waste monitoring programme is to reduce plastic pollution in the UAE’s waters. Plastic waste is a significant issue globally, and it has a severe impact on the environment, marine life, and human health. Therefore, it is crucial to take measures to reduce plastic waste and implement sustainable practices.
