UAE's commitment to reducing worldwide malaria incidence highlighted on World Malaria Day
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is celebrating World Malaria Day on April 25, marking the 16th anniversary of being declared malaria-free by the World Health Organization in 2007. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has joined the global community to observe this day and reiterated the UAE's commitment to helping reduce worldwide malaria incidence by 90% before 2030.
This year's theme of 'Harness Innovation to Reduce the Malaria Disease Burden and Save Lives' highlights the importance of innovation in reducing the malaria disease burden. The UAE has been at the forefront of implementing preventative measures and harnessing innovation to reduce the malaria disease burden, solidifying its commitment to maintaining a healthy environment for its citizens.
MoHAP emphasised that the UAE continues to make every effort to combat malaria through the implementation of preventative measures that prioritise the protection of the community's health. The country was among the first in the Eastern Mediterranean region to be declared free of the disease, making significant progress in the fight against malaria.
As we celebrate World Malaria Day, let's acknowledge the UAE's commitment to reducing worldwide malaria incidence and recognise the importance of innovation in reducing the malaria disease burden. We can all play a role in creating a healthier world.
