UAE’s first gaming resort to cost $3.9 billion, open in 2027

Wynn Resorts, a US-based casino operator, has revealed that it will be investing $3.9 billion in the construction of the United Arab Emirates' first gaming resort. The new resort, which will be located in the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, is set to open in four years and will feature "exceptional entertainment and gaming amenities", according to Wynn Resorts' website.

The resort's construction has already begun on the man-made promontory in Ras Al-Khaimah, which is home to a number of hotels. Although gambling is generally prohibited under Islamic laws in the Gulf state, Ras Al-Khaimah's tourism development authority announced the creation of a new body last year to regulate "integrated resorts", including gaming facilities.

In a statement released on Thursday, Wynn Resorts expressed excitement about the project and said that it looked forward to working with the UAE's government and private sector to create a world-class gaming destination. The new resort is expected to create thousands of jobs and drive economic growth in the region.
