UAE Reminds Workers to Sign up for Unemployment Insurance Scheme

 

As the deadline for signing up for the UAE's Unemployment Insurance Scheme approaches, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has issued a reminder to all eligible employees to subscribe to the scheme. The scheme has already exceeded 1.29 million subscribers since its launch in January, but there are still many workers who have not yet signed up.


Under the scheme, workers who lose their jobs due to no fault of their own are eligible to receive financial support for up to 12 months. This can be a lifeline for those who are struggling to make ends meet while searching for new employment.


However, employees must sign up for the scheme by June 30, 2023, or face a penalty of Dh400. The ministry has urged all eligible employees to subscribe to the scheme before the deadline to ensure that they are protected in the event of job loss.



The UAE has long been committed to protecting the rights of workers, and the Unemployment Insurance Scheme is just one of many measures in place to support them. The scheme provides a safety net for workers who find themselves out of work through no fault of their own, helping them to maintain their standard of living while they search for new employment.


On International Workers' Day, the ministry called on employers to encourage their employees to sign up for the scheme and take advantage of its benefits. By working together, we can ensure that all workers in the UAE are protected and supported, no matter what challenges they may face.
